eBay Holiday Charity Auction
Thanks to Board Member Dini von Mueffling, TeachersCount participated in eBay’s Holiday Charity Auction. TeachersCount was one of only five non-profit organizations from around the country that was invited to auction 20 items, with 70% of the gross proceeds going to TeachersCount. We auctioned a number of unique items, including lunch with actress Julianna Margulies from ER, a one-day charter of a luxury yacht in Miami, and a once-in-a-lifetime New York City experience with Page Six editor Richard Johnson.

Marie Claire Charity Auction
As part of Marie Claire’s 10th Anniversary issue, the editors of Marie Claire requested that Zac Posen and other clothing designers create a unique garment to be featured in the magazine and then auctioned off online, with proceeds going to charity. Zac agreed to design a one-of-a-kind dress and requested that the proceeds of the auction benefit TeachersCount. The auction took place in November 2004 and was a tremendous success.

Jen Bekman Gallery
We kept up the momentum generated by the Spring Fling Benefit at an event held at the Jen Bekman Gallery on June 30th, 2004. Located in NoLiTa in New York City, the Jen Bekman Gallery features photography, prints and drawings from up-and-coming artists. TeachersCount received 10% of the proceeds from the opening night of the Gallery’s popular “pin-up redux” show. This event kept TeachersCount in the news following the success of the Spring Fling Benefit, with publicity on trendy websites and blogs such as Gothamist.com.

Spring Fling Benefit 2004
On June 2nd, we held the TeachersCount Spring Fling Benefit, co-hosted by Zac Posen – one of the hottest fashion designers in America – and his sister Alexandra Posen. The event was held at Lot 61, a leading New York City nightclub, and featured several corporate sponsors (including Nokia, Sell Jewelry and Dewar’s), a successful silent auction (with donations from Marc Jacobs, Zulu Nyala African Safari, Casa De Campo, Brite Smile, Equinox and many others), and numerous celebrities and socialites in attendance.
