2005 Events

Shop for Education Week
Jones New York In the Classroom coordinated a nationwide Shop for Education Week October 15-22 to raise money for the teacher programs it supports. The event took place at select department stores around the country and also featured teacher-models in runway shows and free snacks and spa treats exclusively for teachers. Proceeds from Jones New York apparel purchases during that week were donated, in part, to TeachersCount and the three other non-profit organizations affiliated with the program.

Second Annual Spring Fling Benefit
Claire Danes was the Honorary Chair of the Benefit Committee, and Zac Posen and Alexandra Posen returned as hosts for our Second Annual Spring Fling Benefit, which took place Tuesday, May 17, 2005. This year's event featured music by DJ Jus Ske, dancing, top-shelf liquor, a silent auction, and more—all at the HIRO Ballroom at the Maritime Hotel in New York City. Jones Apparel Group, Grey Goose Vodka, and DeWar's sponsored the benefit. The event was intended to raise both funds and awareness for teachers and TeachersCount.

Teacher Appreciation Week
2005 made for an especially eventful Teacher Appreciation Week for TeachersCount. Jones New York In the Classroom (JNYITC), a program of which TeachersCount is a beneficiary, had its official launch with program representatives appearing on the Today Show and ringing the closing bell at the New York Stock Exchange. And on Tuesday, May 3, of this week (National Teacher Day), Google “dressed up” its logo to honor teachers.
