OfficeMax Super Hero Teacher of the Year Contest
The Super Hero Teacher of the Year contest, which resulted from a partnership between TeachersCount, Marvel Entertainment, and OfficeMax, recognized outstanding middle school teachers and the students who nominated them by turning them into real comic book characters. For the 2006 contest, students in grades 6-8 nominated their teachers by writing short essays called “Why My Teacher Is a Super Hero”. Winning entries and additional contest details are available on the contest website.  The grand-prize winners, along with five first-prize winning teachers and students, appeared in a special-edition comic book that features teachers as Super Heroes. The comic books were distributed at OfficeMax stores for free this summer. TeachersCount is currently working with OfficeMax and Marvel Entertainment to run the contest again in the 2006-2007 school year.
