- December 2005TeachersCount public service announcement published again in Time
- The TeachersCount ad featuring soccer player Alecko Eskandarian appeared for the second time this fall in Time magazine.
- December 2005“Be Counted” poll launched on website
- TeachersCount.org now has an online polling feature that asks website visitors a new question about education each month. The results of each poll will be written up for a press release to the national news media.
- November 2005Sopranos star Edie Falco appears in print public service announcement
- Edie Falco, who is known for playing Carmela Soprano on the widely acclaimed HBO series, appeared with her music teacher Sandy Valerio in a TeachersCount print public service announcement. The ad is intended to appear in Time Inc. publications.
- October 2005Website to feature lesson plans from Bay Breeze Educational Resources
- A new, free lesson plan, custom-made for TeachersCount, will be made available to website users each month. Bay Breeze Educational Resources, a company that has devised curriculum materials for NPR, PBS, and the San Francisco Ballet, is providing the lesson plans.
- October 2005Partnership with Marvel Comics and OfficeMax announced
- TeachersCount has partnered with Marvel Comics and OfficeMax to coordinate a Teacher Super Hero of the Year Contest. Middle school students will be asked to nominate teachers by writing “Why My Teacher Is a Super Hero” essays. The winning teachers will be drawn into a special-edition Marvel comic that features teachers as Super Heroes. The comic will then be distributed free of charge at OfficeMax locations during back-to-school shopping season. The contest is scheduled to begin in January, 2006.
- October 2005Shop for Education Week raises funds for teacher programs
- During the week of October 15-22, Jones New York In the Classroom coordinated Shop for Education week at select department stores across the country. Proceeds from the sale of Jones New York apparel were donated, in part, to TeachersCount and the three other participating non-profits. The week also included free snacks and spa treats for teachers and runway fashion shows featuring teachers as models.
- September 2005Jaguar sells Zac Posen gloves to benefit TeachersCount
- Jaguar has asked Zac Posen to design Jaguar driving gloves for sale in Bloomingdale's. A portion of the proceeds from these sales will be donated to TeachersCount.
- September 2005TeachersCount public service announcement published in Time
- The TeachersCount ad featuring soccer champion Alecko Eskandarian appeared in the September 12 issue of Time magazine, which is published by Time Inc.
- August 2005Nokia launches program to benefit TeachersCount
- Nokia has launched a program to honor teachers and benefit TeachersCount. The company's website invites users to submit a story about a teacher who changed their life for a chance to win a Nokia 7270 phone with a wrap and charm designed by Zac Posen. Nokia is also donating 20% of its Nokia 7270 phone sales to TeachersCount“Zac Posen's favorite charity.”
- July 2005TeachersCount named TeacherNet Site of the Week
- TeachersCount.org was named the TeacherNet Site of the Week for the week of July 11, 2005. TeacherNet.com provides resources to teachers and is operated by Highlights, the publisher of the well-loved children's magazine, Highlights for Children.
- May 2005TeachersCount public service announcement published in Essence
- The TeachersCount ad featuring Tony Shalhoub and his acting teacher Tom Powers appeared in the May issue of Essence magazine, a Time Inc. publication.
- May 2005Google recognizes teachers on National Teacher Day
- At the request of TeachersCount, Google, the most visited website in the world, “dressed up” its logo to honor teachers on National Teacher Day.
- May 2005Jones New York In the Classroom launched, TeachersCount included
- TeachersCount is one of four non-profit organizations that are beneficiaries of the exciting new initiative Jones New York In the Classroom. TeachersCount, along with Adopt-a-Classroom, the Fund for Teachers, and Teachers College Innovations of Columbia University, has joined Jones New York In the Classroom as part of a broad effort to recruit, retain, and recognize teachers. The goal of Jones New York In The Classroom and its non-profit beneficiaries is to raise awareness and dollars for vital teacher-based programs. As part of the program's official launch, which took place during National Teacher Appreciation Week, program representatives appeared on the Today Show and the closing bell ceremony of the New York Stock Exchange
- February 2005NYU Steinhardt School of Education to provide Topic of the Month
- TeachersCount and education experts at the NYU Steinhardt School of Education will collaborate each month to provide thorough analyses and explorations of timely topics in education. Dr. Robert Wallace, Coordinator of the Math, Science, and Technology Enhancement Project, provides answers to our questions on the first topic-science in elementary school.
- January 2005Partnership with Hallmark announced
- TeachersCount has partnered with Hallmark for the purpose of teacher recognition. As a result of this partnership, both companies are providing teacher-appreciation e-cards on their websites and an online feature called, “Ten Ways to Thank a Teacher.”
