Behind Every Famous Person is a Fabulous Teacher

Our award winning "Behind Every Famous Person is a Fabulous Teacher" campaign pairs well-known individuals such as James Franco, Kyrie Irving, Carrie Underwood, Zac Posen, Ludacris and former first lady Laura Bush with their favorite teachers highlighting the importance of teachers in molding the leaders of tomorrow. 

The campaign is made possible with the generous support of Scholastic and has been featured in Time, Sports Illustrated, Country Weekly, The Oprah Magazine, and Martha Stewart Living

November 2015 - NBA Player Jabari Parker and his 7th and 8th grade teacher, Ms. Clintonia McNeal, join our "Behind Every Famous Person is a Fabulous Teacher" campaign. TeachersCount would like to thank Scholastic and NBA Cares for their continued support! 

Clintonia Theresazon McNeal is an Options for Knowledge Science Teacher for the Chicago Public School (CPS) System.  She grew up on the Westside of Chicago – in the 340 building of the Rockwell Gardens Housing Project.  Clintonia began her career with CPS as a Substitute Teacher servicing middle and elementary schools on the Westside of Chicago.  Reared in a single family home she worked her way through college after graduating from Whitney M. Young Magnet high school (Class of 1980) in Chicago.  She received a Certificate for Medical Assisting from Robert Morris College (Carthage - 1981); became a Combat Medic in the Illinois Army National Guard in 1985; earned an Associate in Liberal Arts from Harold Washington Junior College in 1989; a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Science from Illinois State University 1995.  She was selected by the Chicago Public Schools to participate in Teacher’s For Chicago, a program that provided an academic path for the Masters of Arts in Education (2002) which she earned at Columbia College in Chicago.  She enjoys learning and has earned endorsements in Reading, Math and Gifted Instruction.

Clintonia is a member of St. Bartholomew Episcopal Church in Chicago.  She is a member of the following organizations:  Illinois Association of Gifted Children; National Science Teachers Association, Illinois Science Teachers Association, Cook County Farm Bureau, Fermi Friends for Science Education, N.W. Harris Learning Collection at the Field Museum of Natural History and the American Society for Metals (ASM) International.  She has been blessed and is forever grateful for grants to fund her science projects she has received from Target, Best Buy, the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (INDR), and Donor’s Choose. 

Clintonia lives in Chicago, Illinois and has a host of sisters, nieces, nephews, and cousins who are very dear to her heart.
